Fall Update 2024
Well, what a summer it has been! I have had the pleasure of time to reflect on the past season on my first vacation in over 10 years on the islands of St. Maarten, St. Kitts and Nevis. Sun, sand, beach, seafood, family, #HighlandHunk and a recalibration before the new season of 2024-2025 begins tomorrow with rehearsals for the remount of Sancta in Stuttgart.
As my official 30th anniversary approaches (13.09.2024), I am so grateful for the artistic experiences, musical challenges and all the amazing colleagues I have had the pleasure to create with starting with San Francisco Opera and my two Scottish artistic angels Maestro Ian Robertson and Maestro Donald Runnicles. Thank you for believing in me all those years ago.
This season starts with some of the most daring and groundbreaking performance artists I have ever encountered with the remount of Sancta, based on the opera by Hindemith, but brilliantly recreated by Florentina Holzinger and Neon Lobster. They have taken me into their world and taught me so much about what it means to leave it all out there 😉. I was honoured to be invited to be part of the newest “Bergen Suite” this summer with Neon Lobster and the Florentina Holzinger team.
Next up? We begin again at the Staatsoper Stuttgart with a new soprano partner for me Caroline Melzer followed by Berlin at the Volksoper in November, please see my opera page link for dates and photos. This show is one not to miss…
Following on from this epic show, I get to return to my beloved Scotland for a concert and 2 workshops called The Spirit of Winter with Dunbar Voices. Directed by Moira Morrison this will be a concert featuring music never heard in Scotland and 2 pre-concert workshops. We are excited that Dunbar Sings are joining forces for the concert on 30th November 2024.
2025 kicks off with Tales of Transatlantic Freedom in North America, Howard Moody and Dunkel Diva Productions are excited to bring the show and workshops to Dennis Ma with my longtime mentor Maggie Bossi and to Queens University in Canada as part of their 10th Anniversary Season of Concerts and recitals. Following fast on the heals Tales of Transatlantic Freedom is a return to Treemonisha with Volcano theatre. This brilliant production will make its long-awaited debut in America after our much heralded premier in Toronto within the Luminato Festival, performances at the Harris Theatre in Chicago from the 2nd of May through the 4th of May 2025.
So, as I gear up for another exciting season, I find myself grateful, healthy and excited. As always WATCH THIS SPACE for more details and dates and again thank you everyone for making this such an amazing ride.
